LGBT+ RIGHTS LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM

Strategic goal: The LGBT+ community is protected from discrimination and rights violations based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Objectives:

  1. To improve the legal framework for LGBT+ people in Moldova;
  2. To improve public attitudes toward LGBT+ people;
  3. Support for LGBT+ rights by civil society in Moldova.

Services and activities provided/conducted within the LGBT+ Rights Lobbying and Advocacy Program:

  • Initiating strategic litigation to identify problems and gaps in the legal framework;
  • Writing and disseminating alternative reports on the state of the LGBT+ community in Moldova;
  • Lobbying and advocacy: press releases on cases of LGBT+ rights violations, proactive and reactive actions;
  • Joint advocacy actions with other NGOs;
  • Updating the organization’s website and social media pages;
  • Conducting information campaigns and other events for LGBT+ people;
  • Informing different professional groups about sexual orientation and gender identity;
  • Media monitoring of materials about LGBT+;
  • Monitoring public attitudes toward LGBT+ people, organizing regular surveys;
  • Organization of events related to intersectionality issues;
  • Provision of free legal support to LGBT+ people affected by violations of their rights based on sexual orientation and gender identity;
  • Organizing public events in support of LGBT+ rights.

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Strategic goal:

GENDERDOC-M is a strong, professional, and sustainable organization.

Objectives:

  1. Strengthening financial stability and financial management.
  2. Strengthening human resource management, professional growth, and staff well-being.
  3. The organization’s activities are managed by constantly updated internal policies and regulations.
  4. Partner organizations from Moldova and the region are supported by GDM online and offline.

Services and activities provided/conducted within the Organizational Development Program:

  • Development of the system of donations and public funding;
  • Informational events (trainings, seminars, webinars, etc.) for employees of the organization;
  • Development of volunteer movement and informational events for volunteers;
  • Updating and developing organizational Policies;
  • Organizing and hosting quarterly Senate meetings and Annual Assembly meetings;
  • Events organized for the team to reduce emotional burnout;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the director and staff;
  • Conducting trainings for partner organizations in Moldova and the post-soviet regions;
  • Conducting online and offline consultations for partner organizations.

LGBT+ COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The strategic goal of the Program is to reduce the level of homophobia and transphobia in Moldovan society.

Objectives:

  1. More LGBT+ people and their family members who receive GDM services become active members of the community.
  2. Development of support groups and capacity building.
  3. Expansion of target groups that use and have access to GDM services.
  4. LGBT people who use GDM services report violations of their rights to public authorities.

Services and activities provided/conducted within the LGBT+ Community Development Program:

LGBT+ COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAM

Strategic Goal: To reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among the LGBT+ community and other men who have sex with men.

Objectives:

  1. To raise awareness about HIV/STI prevention and sexual and reproductive health in the LGBT+ community, as well as among other men who have sex with men.
  2. Ensure access for people living with HIV to treatment, care, and psychosocial support services.

Ensure sustainable access for LGBT+ people to HIV/STI prevention and sexual and reproductive health services.

Services and activities provided/conducted within the LGBT+ Community Health Program:

  • Support group for people living with HIV (PLHIV).
  • Outreach work at meeting places.
  • Web outreach.
  • Sexual and reproductive health information/education.
  • Safer sex promotion parties.
  • Monitoring and documenting violations of the health rights of LGBT+ people.
  • Lobbying to ensure sustainable access for LGBT+ people to HIV/STI prevention services and sexual reproductive health in general.
  • Peer to peer counseling.
  • Primary health counseling on the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  • Counseling and support for people living with HIV.
  • Sexual and reproductive health counseling.
  • Counseling on initiating and adhering to antiretroviral therapy (ART).
  • Primary psychological counseling.
  • Specialized psychological counseling.
  • Counseling on issues related to the use of new psychoactive substances (NPS) and chemsex.
  • Primary health legal support.
  • Support to medical facilities for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Referral to medical facilities and profile-friendly specialists (infectious disease specialist, dermatovenerologist, urologist/andrologist, proctologist, gynecologist, endocrinologist, etc.).
  • Community-based PrEP.
  • Testing for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, C, and other STIs.
  • Sars-CoV-2 Ag testing.
  • TB screening.
  • Distribution of informational materials.
  • Distribution of means of protection:

– Extra strength condoms,

– Water-based intimate lubricants,

– Intimate wipes,

– Disinfectants,

– Gynecological kits.
