Moldova Pride 2026
Love creates. Law protects.
Moldova Pride 2026 is the festival of the LGBTQI+ community in the Republic of Moldova, organized by the GENDERDOC-M Information Center. This year’s edition takes place from 16–21 June 2026 and brings together the community, allies, partner organizations, diplomatic institutions, activists and all people who believe in a Moldova where every person can live freely, with dignity and in safety.
The theme of the 2026 edition is recognition and legal protection of same-sex families. In the Republic of Moldova, LGBTQI+ couples continue to live without basic legal protections. Their relationships exist, their families exist, their responsibilities are real, but the law does not recognize them.
That’s why the message of this edition is simple:love creates family, care and shared life. The law must protect these realities, not ignore them.
De ce vorbim despre protecție legală
For many same-sex couples in Moldova, the lack of legal recognition is not an abstract issue. It affects everyday life: access to medical information about their partner, the right to make decisions in emergency situations, protection of shared housing, inheritance, assets built together, the safety of children raised in LGBTQI+ families, and the possibility of being recognized as a family by state institutions.
When the law does not recognize these relationships, people remain vulnerable precisely at the moments when they need protection the most: illness, loss, crisis, separation, migration, or death.
Moldova Pride 2026: festival, community, visibility
Moldova Pride is more than a series of events. It is a space for meeting, solidarity, culture, civic education and visibility for the LGBTQI+ community in the Republic of Moldova.
Every year, the festival brings to the public space topics that are too often removed from the agenda of public debates: the right to private and family life, the safety of LGBTQI+ people, access to services, combating discrimination, community health, freedom of assembly and the right of every person to be present in their own society without fear.
The 2026 edition continues this tradition and puts the idea that LGBTQI+ families are not a threat to society, but part of society at the center
Who can participate?
Moldova Pride is open to LGBTQI+ people, allies, friends, partners, civil society organizations, and all those who support human rights.
Some events may have limited access, depending on format, space capacity, or safety measures. Information about participation, registration, and locations will be published on the official GENDERDOC-M channels.
Why is Moldova Pride important?
Moldova Pride is important because visibility saves spaces of freedom. In a context where hate speech, disinformation and attempts to restrict the rights of LGBTQI+ people are still present in the public space, the festival remains an essential exercise in democracy.
The right to assembly, the right to expression, the right to privacy and the right not to be discriminated against are fundamental rights.
