The GENDERDOC-M Information Centre took part today in a press conference ahead of the official opening of the 24th Moldova Pride Festival. The organisation\u2019s representatives, Albina Ciuprin and Angelica Frolov, presented this year\u2019s concept, priority themes and key events to the media. The festival will take place in Chi\u0219in\u0103u from 10 to 15 June 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Albina Ciuprin, coordinator of Pride Park 2025<\/a>, spoke about the significance of this community event, which will take place on Saturday, 14 June, in the centre of the capital.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cPride Park is more than a demonstration. It is a space where the LGBTQI+ community can experience what freedom could look like in a society without prejudice. A place created by and for the community, where volunteers work shoulder to shoulder to build a safe, educational and colourful environment.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This year\u2019s Pride Park theme is \u201cElections and Civic Engagement\u201d. The event will include a symbolic activity\u2014\u201cabsurd elections\u201d for the position of Pride Park 2025 President\u2014designed to raise awareness.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Alongside civic activities, Pride Park participants will be able to explore a wide range of workshops, sporting and artistic activities, free HIV and hepatitis testing, live music and queer performances.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Angelica Frolov, Executive Director of GENDERDOC-M, spoke about the significance of the festival\u2019s overarching theme, \u201cDon\u2019t Mess with the 5%\u201d\u2014a political and social message addressed to society, the authorities and political leaders: \u201cWe make up at least 5% of the population\u2014enough to influence the direction of a country. We demand safety, respect and equal rights. The Moldova Pride Festival is not a party. It is a form of survival in the public sphere.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Angelica Frolov also announced the festival\u2019s opening ceremony, which will take place tomorrow evening at the GENDERDOC-M Centre and include the presentation of awards for civic courage and solidarity, among them the Inimi Implicate (\u201cCommitted Hearts\u201d) Award.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u2022 The Solidarity March\u2014a public demonstration in central Chi\u0219in\u0103u (15 June)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

GENDERDOC-M invites everyone\u2014community members, parents, friends and allies\u2014to take an active part in the events of Moldova Pride 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
